After prison, Anthony continued his personal development, achieving academic success with an Associate of Arts in Black Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, and a Master of Science in Rehab Counseling. He is a vocal advocate for mental health and addiction recovery.
As a Criminal and Restorative Justice Advocate, he leads efforts to heal communities and reform the criminal justice system. He founded "Keys to Successful Reentry," a non-profit providing tailored support for successful societal reintegration.

Jeremiah Daffin's life story is a remarkable journey of transformation and resilience. Growing up in Barstow, California, he faced challenges from his parents' divorce and local gang influences. His mother and other women in his family provided crucial support during his troubled youth, which included gang involvement and witnessing his cousin's murder. At 17, Jeremiah was sent to prison with a life sentence, leading to a profound change during his time in prison. He focused on self-improvement, obtaining a GED and learning various vocational skills. He also engaged in educational and rehabilitation activities, inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s nonviolence principles. After prison, Jeremiah dedicated himself to mentoring junior high students, using his past experiences to guide and inspire them. His life now exemplifies the possibility of change and the importance of support in overcoming adversity, making him a role model for successful societal reintegration.

Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vega | Lived Experience Expert
Gustavo "Tavo" Vega's life is a story of overcoming adversity and personal growth. Raised in Mexico and the U.S., he struggled with cultural identity and tough neighborhood conditions, leading him to join a gang and face juvenile incarcerations. His adult life included a cycle of imprisonment, substance abuse, and violence, resulting in a life sentence. In prison, Gustavo transformed his life through education, earning two Associate degrees and distancing himself from gang culture. He facilitated self-help groups, helping inmates and gaining empathy. After release, despite challenges, he found stability and continued his education, earning a bachelor's in Sociology with a minor in Neurobehavior Science and a master's in Rehabilitation Counseling. Gustavo now works as a drug counselor, coordinates outreach for SDSU Project Rebound, and volunteers in various community roles, using his experiences to support and inspire others. His journey highlights the impact of education and support networks in overcoming difficulties and contributing positively to society.

Stephanie Majsterski Lived Experience Expert
Stephanie Majsterski's story is a testament to resilience and transformation. Faced with a five-year state prison sentence in 2017, she used this challenge as a catalyst for growth, leading to early release due to rehabilitation and good conduct.
